Why Arsenal Can Beat Bayern Munich In The Champions League

Arsenal have been handed a tough second round clash against defending champions, Bayern Munich in the Champions League.

Many would see this as Arsenal paying a very high price for losing the last group game against Napoli at Naples.  The loss meant we qualified as 2nd in the group behind Borussia Dortmund and would now face a group winner.

Both teams met in the Champions League last season with Arsenal losing out on the away goal rule. Arsenal had lost to Bayern Munich 3-1 in the first leg before beating the German side 2-0 at the Allianz Arena, their first at home in a very long time.

Bookmakers would surely tip Bayern Munich over Arsenal to qualify, but the Gunners could just pull a surprise.

We Are Better Team Now

Arsenal squad this season are now an improved side, better than the team that almost knocked out Bayern Munich last year. The Gunners have been in a good run of late before the losses to Napoli and Manchester City.

Arsene Wenger has been able to produce a stronger team with players like Aaron Ramsey and Olivier Giroud stepping up. Not also forgetting the import of Mesut Ozil. The Gunners have also improved strongly at the back, something they lacked when they faced the Germans last time.

Pep Guardiola Is A Familiar Face

Arsene Wenger would be facing Pep Guardiola for the third time in the Champions League. The previous meetings as seen Pep Guardiola (who managed Barcelona then) get a better result than his French counterpart but it has also shown an Arsenal improvement.

In their first Champions League meeting, Pep Guardiola’s Barcelona drew at the Emirates 2-2 before thumping Arsenal 4-1 at the Nou Camp thanks to a Lionel Messi’s hattrick. The other fixture would see Arsenal win at the Emirates and losing to Barcelona in Spain, no thanks to the sending off of Robin van Persie.

Guardiola might be one of the best managers in the world but this could very much be the best time for Arsene Wenger to finally get a very good result over him.

Arsenal Now Used To German Teams

Arsenal have beaten the two major teams in Germany at home, a feat hardly achieved by any team not even the top European teams.

If things go well and the Gunners can get a good result at home then just anything can happen. Away wins at Munich and Dortmund are not as easy as the Gunners have made it look like.

Bayern Munich would not forget so soon they almost got knocked out by Arsenal in the competition last. They would also not forget so soon that Arsenal is the only team in 88 years to stop them from scoring a goal.

This could be the chance everyone has been waiting for. We expected to play a tough team and you can never go far in the Champions League without playing any.

There is hope!!!
